Keeping Your Car Maintained

Recently, my spouse got into his car to go to work. Before he even made it down our long driveway, his car began making frightening sounds. Afraid to continue driving the vehicle to work, my husband decided to stay home for the day. After investigating the car, he traveled to an auto parts store in my vehicle. He purchased transmission fluid to put in his problematic automobile. Thankfully, the transmission fluid helped the car’s performance. Besides transmission fluid, you can find many other types of items to help you maintain your vehicle at an auto parts store. On this blog, I hope you will discover some of the most sought after items available at auto parts stores today. Enjoy!

Spring Cleaning? 2 Things To Inspect To Get You Started

by Renee Miles

If you are spring cleaning your home, you likely have a large list of things to do. There are things, however, that you may not consider putting on your list and these things should be inspected. Two of these things are listed below so you can get started.

Garage Door

Inspect your garage door to ensure everything is working properly. Open and close and see if does this without any hesitation. Look at the rollers for any debris, dust, etc. The rollers, hinges, and tracks also need to be well lubricated.

Check the rubber seal along the bottom of the garage door. Winter may have caused it to wear away or completely deteriorate. This is especially true if the seal was old. If you do not do this, the garage door will hit the ground hard each time it clothes and jar all parts.

Check the garage door sensors, which are on either side of the garage door. These sensors run a beam across the door that senses when something is approaching the garage so the door can open. If they are dirty, simply wipe them off with a soft, clean cloth.

If you notice any problems with your garage door contact a garage door contractor to come to your home. Doing this now will save you a lot of money later in expensive repair bills. For more information, contact companies like J & R Garage Door Company Inc.

Windows

You should also inspect the windows, especially if they are old. Look at the weather stripping around them. If you notice any stripping that has worn away or is missing, you need to replace it. You can purchase this stripping at home improvement stores and it is not difficult to do this job on your own.

You do not want air escaping out of the windows or coming into the windows. This will result I large electric bills each month. Fortunately, it is easy to tell if you have an air leak. Turn off the heating and air unit and close all doors in the room with the window you are checking. Light a candle and hold it near the seal going all the way around the window slowly. If you notice the flame start to move a lot, then there is an air leak.

If you see damage to your windows, contact a windows contractor to repair them for you.

Now that you are finished with these two things, continue checking the siding, foundation, etc.
